We have good news our school community has been waiting to hear. Working together with the help of a federal mediator, the Niles Board of Education and the Niles Education Association today reached a tentative contract agreement, and teachers have voted to approve the new contract. Both sides have worked very hard to get to this point, and we want to sincerely thank everyone on both negotiating teams for their hard work, diligence and commitment. The Niles Board of Education will meet tomorrow at noon in emergency session at the Administration Building to approve the contract.

We have all agreed to work together on the next part of this process – and that is healing. We know that emotions can become frayed whenever people are passionate about a cause. That said, we are now ready to move forward together in the interest of our greatest mutual passion – the children of the Niles Community.
