Congratulations to Niles McKinley High School senior, Jules Money, who was selected to be this year’s district honoree for the YWCA’s Young Women with Bright Futures Award! Money was recognized at the organization’s banquet held Saturday, April 13, 2024 at the Holiday Inn in Boardman.
“As a student at Niles High School, I always strive to do my best in every situation,” Money says about being the district’s award honoree. “I feel extremely grateful to have been nominated to represent my school in the Women with Bright Futures program. It is an honor to know that my hard work and dedication to becoming the best version of myself is being recognized. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to my school for giving me this opportunity, as well as to the YWCA organization for providing young girls like me with such an amazing experience that will surely be beneficial in our future endeavors.”
Since its inception in 1994, the YWCA’s Young Women with Bright Futures program has been providing community recognition of outstanding young women who are high school seniors. Honorees are selected by school administrators based on their leadership, creative, academic, and volunteer traits. “Jules is an excellent student and a well-rounded individual,” says McKinley High Guidance Counselor Mrs. Tracy Lastic on why she nominated Money for the award. ”She excels academically at the top of her class as well as in leadership roles in the school. Jules is an energetic, outgoing young lady who exudes kindness toward others. She is both a leader and role model at Niles McKinley High School.”
As part of the program, honorees participate in three days of leadership seminars where they hear from guest speakers, work to compose essays on why they should be selected for the top scholarship award, and complete a collaborative community service project.
At Niles McKinley High, Money is actively involved in various extracurricular activities such as basketball (Captain), softball, National Honor Society, Student Council, Yearbook (Editor), Journalism (web headlines manager), the Teddy Bear project, Students For Environment, Future Teachers of America, and Interact Club. She has taken and received credit for 45 hours worth of College Credit Plus classes and will be starting as a sophomore at Kent State University in the fall. She plans to major in business and minor in digital marketing.
In addition to her activities at school, Money also volunteers with the Warren Family Mission and First United Christian Church.
Congratulations, Jules!
