NIS Among Top 30% of Ohio Elementary Schools!
The Niles City School District proudly announces that the Intermediate School is once again included in the U.S. News and World Report Best Elementary School Rankings, placing among the top 30% (461 of 1531) of elementary schools ranked in Ohio.
The U.S. News and World Report, a nationally recognized source on educational (and other) evaluations, has acknowledged Niles Intermediate for its commitment to providing a high-quality learning environment. The rankings are based entirely on publicly available data from the U.S. Department of Education and include factors such as academic performance, test scores, faculty qualifications, and student-to-teacher ratios. This edition incorporated state assessment data from 2020-2021 – the first school year that followed the disruption in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Niles Intermediate Principal Mr. Chris Staph expressed his gratitude for the recognition, stating, "We are honored to be recognized by U.S. News and World Report for our dedication to academic excellence. This achievement is just one more reflection of the hard work and commitment our students, faculty, and staff put in day in and day out. In September NIS received a 4.5-star ranking from the Ohio Department of Education on our state report card, so we are very excited to see our efforts recognized on multiple levels. "
The recognition from U.S. News and World Report reinforces Niles Intermediate's commitment to providing a learning environment that supports the opportunity for all students to become responsible learners, critical thinkers, and problem solvers. Parents, students, and the community can take pride in the school's standing among the state's top elementary schools, reflecting its dedication to providing an outstanding educational experience.
“The efforts put in daily by Mr. Staph, and the students and staff of Niles Intermediate School should be commended,” says district Superintendent Ann Marie Thigpen. “Congratulations on once again being recognized as a U.S. News and World Report Top Elementary School!”
This is the second time Niles Intermediate School has been recognized by the U.S. News and World Report as a Top Elementary School. NIS was recognized in 2022 as well, which was the first year elementary school rankings were provided by the digital media company.
